Immediately following the New Testament, and indeed overlapping in time with some of the latest books in the New Testament, is a number of writings known collectively as “the Apostolic Fathers.” The collection includes writings of Clement of Rome, Ignatius of Antioch, Hermas, Polycarp, and Papias and the Letter of Barnabas, the Letter to Diognetus, 2 Clement, and the Didache.
